Guitar
There are no microphones needed to record the guitar because Blanks plugs it straight into the audio interface. The Guitar he uses is a Fender Telecaster. I don't own a Telecaster, so if I can't find one to borrow, I will use my Stratocaster as they have a very diverse sound and will be able to get very close to the original sound.
Bass Guitar
No microphones needed for the Bass. Once again he plugs it directly into his interface. I don't have access to the exact bass guitar that he uses, but Logic has created a software instrument of the same bass, so I will use that.
Drums
Although Blanks builds his drums using an electronic drum track in Logic, I am going to try and recreate the sound using a real drum kit.
The drums in the chorus will be fairly simple as they have a very simple, clean sound, with a lot of reverb added.
The drums in the second verse, however, will be much more challenging. This is because the drums in this part, particularly the snare drum, have a massive echo effect. This will be hard to replicate without getting a lot of bled from other drums. They are also quite muffled in the second verse in a way that makes it sound like they were played in the room next door.
Synth
Once again I won't need any microphones to record the synth. Blanks uses a Behringer Poly D synth for this track. I can't get that synth exactly but I can borrow a Behringer MonoPoly.
Monopoly vs Poly D
The Monopoly and Poly D are very similar synths. The Poly D first came out in 2019 and the Monopoly came out just a year later in 2020. The main difference between the two is the Poly D is modeled on an old 1970s synth and the Monopoly is modeled on an old 1980s synth. However, even with this difference, they still sound extremely similar and I should be able to recreate the sound that Blanks made very easily. You can hear the two synths side by side in the video below.
Vocals
Blanks uses a Warm Audio WA-47 to record his vocals on this track. Unfortunately, we do not have access to a WA-47, however, after some comparisons, the microphone we have that matches the most is the WA-67. Therefore I will use this to record the vocals.
I will also give the WA-47jr a go, whichever sounds closest to the original is the one I will settle with. Below you can see the frequency response of all 3 microphones:
