Week 1
During this weeks session we came up with the initial idea for the song and started adding some extra fun bits like the organ at the beginning of the piece. We had decided that we definitely wanted to go with a rock song, for a change.
Week 2
During this weeks session, we have extended and refined the idea from the previous week and we have come up with the structure of the song. We have also started to look into an outro with a guitar and piano solo. The lyrics are starting to be written as well.
Week 3
Once again we have extended on the idea we had in the previous 2 weeks. We have finalised the idea and structure and we have now got a solid outro that consists of a beautiful piano solo with a bit of guitar harmonising with it. We are now practicing, ready to get the track recorded.
Recording Week
This week we all started to record our own bit of the song. I went first by recording the drum part I had written for the song and the picture to the left shows the mixing desk set up to pick up all the different microphones that were set up around the drum kit. It took 6 takes to get a good sound that is now being edited and mixed into the song.
Week 5 and 6
This week we have finished recording the track. I have finished the drums and they have been mixed into the track. We have also recorded guitar, organ, piano, vocals and bass guitar and they have also been mixed. This is a screenshot of the finished project file, to the right. We have also added a few extra guitar bits in the background that just add a nice bit of texture to the track and keep it from getting repetitive.
