There is a wealth of information out there. More than ever as there is now an explosion of wedding blogs and Pinterest has wedding ideas and pictures galore. Wedding magazines are always fun and full of advice and beautiful pictures. They are quite expensive however. hitched.com is an incredibly helpful resource. I found my wedding venue through them. My online magazine https://wfphoto.biz/wichita-falls-wedding-photography/ also has some wedding inspiration.
Pinterest is a godsend for brides. If you don’t know what it is already; it is basically a virtual scrapbook. You can ‘pin’ different images from the internet onto different boards, putting together a virtual collage. You can also look at other people’s boards. There are plenty of wedding ones.
Weddings are hugely expensive and if you add up all of the deposits you might start crying. If the deposit money really does start to add up you might want to take out some wedding insurance. This will cover you against illness, venue problems and weather issues.
I do not recommend taking out a loan to pay for your wedding. It is not worth starting your married life in debt.
A lot of online shopping sites can help when it comes to wedmin. Not On The High Street have a lot of great stuff which could be used for favours or gifts for the wedding party. They also do lots of great wedding stuff. EBay and Amazon are also your friends. They also have quite good refund policies in place.
H&M have great dresses from just £59.99 and Minna have sustainable bespoke dresses at an affordable price. Wilkinson have things like chalkboards for under £5 that can be used for decoration. IKEA and H&M are also good for furniture which you can reuse after the wedding. You can also reuse things you have around the house or that friends might have. An old suitcase is a cute addition to put cards in. Car boot sales and charity shops will also have some great stuff.
Bridal magazines and blogs are a good bet. Brides Magazine is a good one, as is Wedding, You and Your Wedding, Perfect Wedding and Elle magazine has now launched a wedding magazine. All of the main women’s magazines tend to have wedding sections on their website. Such as Marie Claire, Grazia and Elle. Others tend to have some good wedding articles.
Here is a rather amazing site which lists the Top 100 Wedding Blogs: http://www.weddingblogs100.com I had a lot of fun on this site in the run up to my wedding. There are some truly great sites there. You can also check out the wedding section of my online magazine, Frost Magazine: https://wfphoto.biz/wichita-falls-wedding-photography/
Rock N Roll Bride was the first-ever UK based wedding blog and is now hugely popular. It is a great site, especially if you want an alternative wedding or just something a little bit different. There are also great real-life weddings on the site with amazing pictures. Great for inspiration.
A great idea for putting together the scrapbook of your wedding together is Pinterest. If you have not heard of Pinterest, it is a site on which you can ‘pin’ pictures from other sites to specific boards. You just register and then you can start pinning straight away. It is lots of fun and makes things easier. Register here: http://www.pinterest.com and they also have lots of wedding stuff already there: http://www.pinterest.com/all/weddings/
After you pick a date you can get on with everything else. If you pick a date during peak wedding season then keep in mind that you will have to book some of your suppliers well in advance, especially if you are getting married on a weekend. If you are getting married on a weekday there will be less pressure, although Fridays can also get booked up quite far in advance.
