•  Donatello was a solid student before tragedy struck his family. He was often in a friendly academic competition with Harrison Blackwood, though Harrison usually had the upper hand. 

• Seeking a distraction from his developing abilities and the depression that followed, Donatello took up sculpting, finding a purpose in creating with his hands. Eventually, he joined the school art club. 

• He later attended the University of Washington and began his academic plan to pursue his dream of becoming a surgeon.

• Donatello discovered his ability of precognition, inherited through his father’s bloodline, which traced back to Tiresias of Greek mythology. He sketched a disturbing scene of himself and his father at his mother’s funeral. A year later, his mother died of cancer, confirming the sketch. Upon learning this, his father revealed the family’s ancestral history. Donatello began to wear a neutral, unreadable expression on his emotions.

• Meeting Axel Daniels (later renamed), who became his close friend and emotional anchor. Axel introduced him to marijuana, which helped dull the overwhelming visions. However, the motional bond strengthened the frequency and intensity of the visions. One sketch that Donatello drew depicted Donatello, Axel, and a mysterious boy near their favorite oak tree during lunch. Two years later, the boy in the vision became real: Tyler Anthony Atlas later joined their group. Around the same time, Donatello met Rosalie and Victoria Atlas, and (now named) Harrison’s adoptive sister, Sloane. 

• Between the ages of 16-18, the trio of Donatello, Tyler, and Harrison decided to focus on their studies and their dreams. Tyler becoming a chief, Harrison becoming a musician, and Donatello pursuing medicine. A dream that was inspired by his late mother, hoping to prevent the pain he experienced at a young age for someone else.  

• Between the ages of 19-21, Donatello experienced college life alongside his friends. While most visions are harmless, several turn dark. A depiction of a fire demon attacking a man, Sloane, causing panic with ice-based powers. However, despite these images, Donatello delayed revealing them to his friends due to his coursework and preparations for med school. As fast as school started, it ended, and his residency began.

• A blur of sleepless nights and back-to-back shifts. Eventually, Donatello earned his place as a general surgery attending. During his time as an attending, Donatello got better control of his precognition abilities and even used them to help his close friends with any problems they had. However, over time, his visions began to change, and his illustrations provided some detail that repeated over and over again. The illustrations were of a woman. A woman he had never met. 

• The woman in his sketchbook was shown to have mid-length hair, sometimes it had a messy bun with pencils stuck into it, she had deep chestnut brown hair, and dark brown eyes. Donatello didn’t pay any mind to it, at least until that woman came into his ER after a near-fatal car accident. Finally being able to put a name to a face he had been sketching over the months, he learned her name after she woke up from surgery.

• Donatello's first impression of Mellie wasn’t like the rest of his friends. When meeting her, he saw her during an ER visit after she was in a near-fatal car accident. The first words he said to her while holding her hand were, “I’m not letting you die, I’m here and I’ll do everything in my power to keep you alive.” Before Mellie was put under for her surgery, what she remembered of Donatello was that he shined a bright golden color due to her aura reading. Donatello was the first person who ever shined brightly in her eyes. 

• It had been months since Donatello and Mellie spoke after she was released from the hospital; however, he found her again when he took a weekend trip to a local art museum. Ironically, she was on a date. He still explored the museum, but was thrown off when Mellie approached him. He learned that Mellie ended the date because the man she was on a date with was showing red flags, and she didn’t want to be around him anymore, so they had an impromptu date. However, he was uncomfortable at first since he was one of her doctors, but she reassured him that she viewed him more as a friend since he spent so much time by her side while recovering.
