• Sloane had always been a determined student with a curious, driven mind. While she had a wild side and loved to let loose on the weekends, academics were never far from her priorities. Throughout her time in school, she maintained steady A’s and B’s. 

• Initially, Sloane dreamed of following in the footsteps of Donatello King, her brother’s close friend. She envisioned becoming a nurse, but eventually decided to become a doctor.

• During her college years, Sloane completed her residency at NOLA’s hospital, gaining hands-on experience in high-pressure environments. However, after her transition from human to demon, Sloane decided to change her education path and focused on Psychology, drawn by a desire to help others understand and navigate the complexities of the human mind.

• In the early stages of Sloane’s life, she became friends and developed a sibling-like bond with the Atlas siblings at the age of 10 years old. Often spending more time at the Atlas Estate than the Blackwood Estate, they considered her an honorary Atlas. 

• Around the time Sloane became of age to understand the functions of how the Blackwood family was, she learned that her parents were not the type of parents who married for love; they were the type of parents who married for social status and gain. Their plan was to arrange for Sloane to marry a husband of their choosing to solidify their social status with another family so they could climb the ladder. Sloane didn’t agree with the plans that her parents had and decided to rebel against them. 

• During this time period of her life, junior year of high school to her freshman year of college, Sloane developed a romantic relationship with her high school sweetheart, Jackson Sieler. The dynamic between the two was something that most of her friends were envious of, but they still welcomed Jackson into their circle. Wherever Sloane went, Jackson surely followed, until he didn’t. 

• When the time approached for Sloane’s 21st birthday, she traveled to New Orleans to visit her brotherly figure, Tyler Atlas. After a night of partying, living her fantasies of dancing on tables and bar tops, Sloane finally decided to end her evening with Tyler once she sobered up. However, the walk home would permanently alter her life, and she would never be the same again. 

• Being assaulted by a man who was stronger than she could have imagined, Sloane was brutally assaulted and close to death, at least until another man found her lying in a pool of her own blood. She didn’t like the smirk he had as he stared down at her; she didn’t like how he called her Little Warrior despite her condition, and what she hated most of all was the cold, painful sensation she felt throughout her body that caused her to pass out. 

• When Sloane finally woke up again, she disclosed the information about what had happened to her to Tyler. As she tried to remember in detail, she heard a whisper in her mind telling her what she was: An Ice demon. Upon her discovery, she remembered the face of the man who last saw her. A man with blue-grey eyes, black hair, and fangs that peeked out when he smiled, who made her feel like prey to a predator. While she recalled his features, she received another whisper in her mind, a single word, two syllables: Dagon. 

• After Sloane regained her strength, she hunted for the man named Dagon. However, she didn’t find him; he found her. He was tall, intimidating, and everything Sloane hated in a man but fantasized about. Dagon had explained what he had done to her, what the cost was of saving her life. Her role was to be his right hand, help him find his brother, and do whatever he wanted and needed.

• Of course, Sloane wouldn’t just follow the orders of a stranger, let alone a man who wasn’t her boyfriend; so she proposed a deal. A deal where they would have compromised, and she would split her time between the human world and the demon world. The only thing she had to do was tie up loose ends, the first one being her boyfriend, Jackson Seiler. It was a difficult and hard decision to make, but thankfully, with Tyler’s friend, Andrew Larson, he was able to compel Jackson to forget about her and the relationship they had, in addition to ensuring he moved on, while remembering that he was loved. 

• As the months went on, Sloane continued with her life to the best of her ability. She dropped out of school in Washington and was hired as a bartender at Maison de Minuit, where she did her best to navigate her life as a demon living in a human skin that she barely recognized. Dagon became a nuisance at first, an annoying voice in her head that offered comments on her daily activities and methods to hold onto her humanity. 

• Eventually, Sloane decided to re-enroll in school at the local community college. However, there was another loose end that needed to be tied, and little did she know, she’d only be a Blackwood in name and name alone.

• Sloane hated Dagon when they first met officially. She called him out for taking advantage of her vulnerable state to form a contract in exchange for saving her life. However, Dagon admired her anger and found it attractive. From there, he referred to her as “Little Warrior” and claimed he made the right choice. Sloane, however, viewed this as him being condescending and referred to him as “Kermit” in reference to Kermit the Frog; to her dissatisfaction, Dagon didn’t know who Kermit the Frog was. 

• Whenever Sloane would overthink, sometimes she’d use the mental link to talk to Dagon. At first, the conversations went nowhere, and he wasn’t helpful since most of his solutions involved sacrificing bits of humanity by suggesting she use the “gifts she was given” to permanently resolve the problems. As their dynamic progressed over the months, Dagon eventually learned to provide constructive feedback.
