Walton High School offers 3 years of AP Computer Science courses consisting of AP Computer Science Principles, Ap Computer Science, and Computer Science Research/Web Design. It is also likely that we will soon offer the new AP Networking and AP Cyber Security courses. In these courses students begin with foundational programming and problem-solving in AP Computer Science Principles. This course introduces students to basic programming concepts, computer hardware, and interactive programming, all while developing a logical approach to problem-solving using the Java programming language.
Next, AP Computer Science A builds on these skills by focusing on object-oriented programming. Students will learn advanced problem-solving and algorithm development, specifically designing programs with multiple classes and class hierarchies in Java.
Finally, the Computer Science Research – Web Design course applies these concepts to web development. Using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, students will gain practical experience in web design, explore current industry trends, and complete a capstone project to demonstrate their expertise.
