The Economic Success for Rutland Project is centered on strengthening the Rutland Business District through economic assessment, planning and redevelopment of vacant commercial buildings. Downtown Rutland is home to eight vacant buildings once thriving with small town business. Through a partnership with Small Nation, the Village will collaborate with building owners, entreprenuers, and real estate developers to identify and develop a tailored approach to effective economic development in the Village of Rutland.

On Tuesday, June 3, 2025, Mayor Tyler M. Eblin and President of Council Christopher Saber visited with representatives of Small Nation and entreprenuers in the City of Bellefontaine, the home of Small Nation, to gain an insight into Small Nation's redevelopment endeavors in Bellefontaine and network with business owners to identify how Small Nation worked with them to facilitate the redevelopment of vacant buildings and the initialization of their business.

Small Nation will visit the Village of Rutland and conduct a general assessment of the community and its buildings, as well as the Village's prior and current economic activity and economic development goals. Public hearings will be conducted to gain an insight into the needs and visions of community residents and identify potential entreprenuers.

Upon conclusion of the community assessment, Small Nation will develop a final report of findings and its recommendations to bolster strong economic development in the Village of Rutland all while ensuring networking opportunities for potential entreprenuers.
