The Village of Rutland, a historic coal mining community, is situated in the rolling hills of southeastern Ohio. Nestled within our community is incredible potential for growth and new business opportunity.
Centered in the heart of the Village is the Rutland Business District. Businesses currently serving our community include an automotive repair shop, a funeral home, two restaurants, two variety stores, a propane provider and a post office.
While the Village welcomes all new lawful business opportunities, the objective of the Village of Rutland is to facilitate economic development that promotes quality of life, meets the needs and visions of local residents, and nurtures reliable employment opportunities. The Village seeks new business in the area of banking; grocery; health and beauty; clothing and furniture; hardware; fuel and service; outdoor sports; and family restaurant and dining.

Businesses and employees in the Village of Rutland are subject to a one-percent income tax on their net profits and earnings, respectively. The Village has authorized and delegated all municipal income tax enforcement and collection to the Regional Income Tax Agency (RITA).
