My first day of field study went differently than planned. My classmate Leean and I arrived at the school only to discover that our cooperating teacher wasn't there. We were confused and didn't know what to do next. We decided to go to the main campus to find Mme Vhie, but she wasn't available that day. We felt lost and needed help figuring out what to do next.
As we wandered around the campus, feeling hopeless, we saw Sir Aaron and approached him for help. We asked if we could join his class since our cooperating teacher was absent, and he graciously accepted. Sir Aaron introduced us to his students, and it was a great feeling to be called Mme for the first time by them. His lesson for the day was all about solid waste management, and I found it fascinating. Despite the challenges of the day, it turned out to be a great learning experience.
The second day of my field study was much better. I finally had a chance to talk to my cooperating teacher about the scheduling conflicts that arose due to high tide affecting Ramona's schedule. Luckily, we were able to resolve all the issues. During our conversation, I also asked her about the topic she would be teaching, and she mentioned that they wouldn't have class that day because they needed to finish the Regional Diagnostic Assessment. The results of which required to be passed on to the department.
Later, Mme Andrelie introduced me to her students and explained that I would observe them and provide feedback on their activities. We proceeded to answer a book, followed by a test. While some of the students answered the questions honestly, others were guessing. Clearly, there was still a lot of work to be done, but I was excited to be a part of the learning process. Overall, my field study experience was an excellent opportunity to learn and grow, and I'm grateful for the experience.
