ENGLISH EDUCATION
ENGLISH EDUCATION
English education is the study of English language, literature, and pedagogy, with the goal of preparing students to become English teachers. English education programs typically include courses in: writing, linguistics, public speaking, grammar, adolescent development, special education, and diversity. Students in English education programs learn about the day-to-day work of teaching English, and also evaluate the current educational system. The goal is to prepare teachers who can support students from diverse backgrounds. The term "education" comes from the Latin words educare, meaning "to bring up," and educere, meaning "to bring forth".
