ART06A/B Intermediate American Art II VA
(Course Optional for Grade 6 students)
In Intermediate American Art II, students complete weekly lessons that cover an introduction to the great works of American art from the end of the Civil War through modern times. Students investigate various styles of two- and three-dimensional art, discover how photographers and painters have inspired one another, and examine examples of modern architecture. Each week, students have the option to attend a live Class Connect where they can share their artwork and have an opportunity to make a step-by-step art project inspired by their online coursework.
ART07A/B Intermediate World Art I VA
(Course Optional for Grade 7 students)
In Intermediate World Art I, students complete weekly lessons surveying the art, artists, cultures, from ancient through medieval times. Students investigate how artists from different civilizations used various techniques, examine elements of design and styles of decoration, and explore the artwork of ancient tombs. Each week, students have the option to attend a live Class Connect where they can share their artwork and have an opportunity to make a step-by-step art project inspired by their online coursework.
ART08A Intermediate World Art II VA
*Semester 1
(Course Optional for Grade 8 students)
In Art 8 (Intermediate World Art II), students complete weekly lessons that survey the artists, cultures, and great works of world art. Students discover how historical works of art influenced later artists, and explore works from many civilizations, from paintings to sculpture, architecture, and more. Each week, students have the option to attend a live Class Connect where they can share their artwork and have an opportunity to make a step-by-step art project inspired by their online coursework. (Semester one only)
Digital Design
*Semester 2
(Course Optional for Grade 8 students)
In Digital Design, students learn about the principles and history of photography and graphic design as well as current digital art trends. Students use a variety of free software programs such as photo editing programs, logo generators, and web page builders to create their own digital design projects. Each week, students have the option to attend a live Class Connect where they can share their artwork and have an opportunity to make a step-by-step art project inspired by their online coursework. (Semester two only)
