SMALL COMMUNITY STRUCTURE
brief
This project explored how materiality shapes both the function and experience of architectural space. It focused on how materials can carry meaning, evoke atmosphere, and support communal activities—beyond just structural use. We were tasked with designing a small-scale structure that highlights the relationship between form, material, and purpose. The design also laid the groundwork for Project 1C, where the spatial and programmatic ideas introduced here would be further developed, especially around the theme of learning and user experience.
outcome
This project deepened my understanding of how architecture can respond to its natural and built context through environmental poetics. By drawing from the site’s environmental qualities, we designed spaces that heighten user experience. At the same time, I explored materiality and detailing not just as construction elements, but as tools to express emotion, invite interaction, and enrich the spatial experience.
