The details
The Unlawful Detainer Clinic is a wonderful introduction to the legal profession. Not only will you gain valuable experience working under the supervision of the attorneys that staff the clinic, you will be introduced to the basics of property law and temporary restraining orders.
The clinic serves both tenants and landlords involved in the unlawful detainer process by preparing the necessary paperwork to file and respond to unlawful detainer cases.
Additionally, until 12:30 each day the clinic helps with temporary restraining orders, meaning individuals who are served or looking to file a TRO in a civil harassment case or elder abuse case are welcome at the clinic.
No prior experience is needed, the clinic staff will teach you everything you need to know.
Scheduling
You are welcome to volunteer as often as you wish to do so, although we ask that you commit to one three hour shift per week.
If you sign up and need to cancel please let me know as soon as possible so I can let the supervising clinic attorney know and possibly find a student to take your shift.
The clinic is currently in need of volunteers and would appreciate any time you can donate.
