The details
Volunteering at the HIV/AIDS Clinic is a fantastic learning opportunity. At the Clinic, law student volunteers have the chance to develop critical legal skills and network with other law students, paralegals, and attorneys.
Law student volunteers assist with the client intake process, interview clients, take notes, and issue spot with the staff attorney, Heather Carmody.
Ms. Carmody generally pairs new volunteers with more experienced volunteers, so no prior experience is required to volunteer at the HIV/AIDS Clinic. Ms. Carmody and her legal assistant, Anayeli, are extremely helpful and always happy to answer questions.
Scheduling
Law student volunteers are allowed to sign up for a maximum of three (3) shifts per semester. The three shift maximum may be lifted if additional volunteers are needed as the semester goes on.
If you sign up to volunteer and need to cancel, please let me know immediately so I can arrange for another student to take your shift.
Those who sign up to volunteer will receive an e-mail from me a few days before their scheduled shift with important additional information.
The sign-up sheet can be accessed here. The first Clinic date available for volunteer sign-ups is Monday, August 20th.
