This program equips you to teach English Language Arts at the high school level (grades 9–12).
You will explore adolescent development, curriculum planning, and inclusive, responsive instruction in English composition, communication, and language arts teaching methods while gaining practical experience in real classrooms.
You will graduate with:
Extensive classroom-based experience
A strong foundation in teaching literature, writing, and language to diverse learners
Eligibility for the Illinois Professional Educator License endorsed in English Language Arts (Grades 9–12)
*You will also have the option to earn a Middle Grades (5–8) endorsement in English Language Arts with an additional exam. See Endorsement Options for more information.
