You will work with the Office of Field Experience (OFE) throughout your program to establish and maintain your Field Experience.
Review this information to learn more about what Field Hours are and how to get started.
What is Field Experience?
Field experience (also called field hours) are required, hands-on classroom experiences built into your courses. You’ll observe and participate in various Educational settings throughout the program.
What to know:
Field experience is measured in hours and is tracked and submitted as part of your coursework
They can be found in your Degree Plan, listed under any course that requires them
The required hours for a course are split up into the 10 weeks of the term
You will be assigned a Field Specialist from the Office of Field Experience to help you set up these hours and track requirements through your program
You’ll engage in a variety of grade levels and school environments
Field Experience can sometimes be done in your place of employment or you can be placed by OFE
You will be required to submit a group of materials to the SONIA platform ahead of your first experience in the field. Look for a deadline listed in your Degree Plan to submit these requirements. You will also receive emails directly from the Office of Field Experience to get started.
