Go to the NLU Portal. Set up your NLU student email by clicking “Forgot Password” to receive a pin sent to your personal email which will help you get logged in to your NLU account.
Check it regularly, as important updates from NLU will come through this email only.
Use the directions below to add your NLU email to your phone for easier access.
Download the NLU App below. The app helps you schedule appointments, track assignments, and stay connected on the go.
The bookstore opens 1 month before each term starts.
Visit https://nl.textbookx.com to order books for each term. Simply log in and it will show you what books you need for your courses and various ways to rent or buy them.
If eligible, submit the Book Advance and Textbook Voucher Form to use your financial aid toward textbooks.
Courses won't appear in D2L until about 10 days before the course starts. During this time, courses can also be removed for edits. Always save your work on your desktop to avoid losing anything.
Check your Detailed Course Schedule in the portal to confirm your registration for the upcoming term & for information such as start and end dates, room location (if in person) and other helpful details.
Log into your D2L course landing pages to track assignments and announcements.
Use D2L Tutorials at https://nl.edu/student-services/d2l-tutorials and review the Navigating Technology slide deck above to get comfortable using the platform.

Be sure to submit all official transcripts, so your Degree Plan can be accurately created. Transcripts must be submitted directly from the institution to admissions@nl.edu.
If you have additional credentials or degrees, be sure to note this to your Enrollment Specialist and/or Advisor.

Complete your FAFSA for the academic year.
Reach out to the Office of Student Finance for questions about your award letter or student account.
Log in to the NLU portal and complete your Promissory Note.
(This step is required for your financial aid to be processed.)
Orientation prepares you for success at NLU by introducing systems, expectations, and available resources.
Schedule a meeting after registering for the first term of courses. You will receive directions in your registration email to set up an appointment.
Visit the Meet the Advisors page to get more information.
Once received, review your Degree Plan carefully.
Be proactive and reach out to your Advisor with questions or if/when you need to make a change.
