What does Commencement/graduation mean to you?
Graduation to me it means achieving a significant milestone that represents each and one of us for the culmination of years of hard work, dedication, and personal growth. It marks the end of one chapter and beginning of another, symbolizing both achievement and new beginnings. It means: achievement, recognition, transition, new beginnings, reflection, growth, community, connection, hope aspiration and ceremony and tradition. Deep personal academic and communal significance.
Did you have to overcome any difficult challenges during your education to make it to graduation? If so, what were they?
Maintaining a balance between academics and extracurricular activities, and dealing with academic pressure and expectations. Time management but I was able to over come it.
What has your experience at NLU been like?
Being an online student at NLU during the COVID-19 pandemic was unexpectedly transformative for me. One of the most remarkable aspects of this experience was the freedom it granted me to travel while continuing my studies. Due to the flexibility of online education, I was able to transcend physical boundaries and immerse myself in different environments. This newfound freedom allowed me to embark on a memorable journey, one that led me to Acapulco, Guerrero, where I had the privilege of living with my grandpa. Living with my grandpa in Acapulco remains one of the most profound memories of my college experience. It was a time filled with warmth, laughter, and cherished moments spent together. Whether we were exploring the local culture, savoring delicious meals, or simply enjoying each other's company, every moment was imbued with a sense of love and connection that I will always treasure. However, this memory is bittersweet, as my grandpa is no longer with me. Despite the pain of his absence, I find solace in the memories we created together and the invaluable lessons he imparted. His wisdom, kindness, and unwavering support continue to guide me, even in his physical absence. Through this experience, I learned that education extends far beyond the confines of a classroom. It is woven into the fabric of our lives, shaped by our experiences, relationships, and the places we call home. My time in Acapulco taught me the importance of seizing every opportunity, cherishing every moment, and living life to the fullest. As I continue my academic journey and navigate the challenges that lie ahead, I carry with me the enduring legacy of my grandpa's love and the profound impact he had on my life. Though he may no longer be by my side, his spirit lives on in the memories we shared and the values he instilled in me.
