High Table dinners are served most Monday nights during the teaching semester. High Tables are a chance for the whole College community to share a two-course meal together and announcements are made about what is happening that coming week. Academic gowns are to be worn by all residents at High Tables.
A number of undergraduate residents are invited to sit at the High Table each night. It is essential that you reply to these invitations from the Registrar by the RSVP date. Drinks are generally served in the Senior Common Room first for staff, RTs, guests, postgraduates and invited undergraduates. All residents are asked to be in the Dining Hall by 6:15pm.
General announcements take place before dessert. After dessert, residents in the body of the Hall are then free to leave. Those on the High Table will be invited to join the Head of College for tea and coffee. These dinners are usually completed by 7:30pm in time for tutorials.
As well as High Table, the College hosts several other formal dinners each year including Commencement Dinner (to mark the start of the academic year) and Valedictory Dinner (to farewell our students at the end of the year).
