Mostly via email and SMS messages. Students are expected to regularly check their email accounts for this reason.
At times, members of staff may need to see residents for administrative or academic reasons. This may be done through email, text or call. The expectation is that you will respond promptly.
University College staff manage official social media channels that we may try to contact you from if we have no luck via email/phone.
The Student Club also runs a series of social media pages and groups for notices, information and communication. Please note, the College administration does not have access to these pages. As such, students should direct any complaints or concerns regarding them to the appropriate staff via email, phone or in person, in order for us to deal with them appropriately.
The electronic noticeboards at the entrance, kitchen and other areas of the College are also used to communicate with students. Students may use the e-screens to promote an event or announcement - these can be submitted to the Dean of Students for approval.
General notices and advertisements should be placed on the noticeboards outside the Dining Hall. Please do not place notices elsewhere in the College without permission. No notices should be attached to glass doors in reception or on walls or pillars in other public areas.
General announcements during High Table evenings tend to be run by the Student Club Executive, particularly the President. Any resident who wishes to make an announcement should consult with the Student Club President or their deputy for that night, or they may approach the lectern when any other announcements are called for.
The University College Resident Portal is available for you prior to moving in and during your time here as a source of information and way to interact with UC. This is where you go to lodge your room inspection review, maintenance requests, IT assistance requests, as well as a number of other residential matters as the year progresses.
