FFP2 masks are still required in all indoor spaces on campus with the exception of your personal rooms and while eating at the dining hall.
Though there has been an uptick in the number of cases in Italy recently, there has also been a reduction of the number of people recovered in intensive care with COVID, and the government has set a timeline for relaxing Covid-related protocols in the country.

COVID-19 Information sheet for students
Updated April 1, 2021
Although the risks and restrictions associated with the COVID-19 global pandemic have decreased, this remains an unprecedented time to be on a college campus, both in the US or abroad.
Below is a set of information, policies and procedures, created following the guidance of the Italian healthcare authorities, the CDC, WHO, local healthcare professionals, and local government directives, which will assist us in our return to in-person learning on our Rome Campus and help guarantee ways of living, learning, and working that actively promote the health and safety of everyone: students, faculty, staff, and members of the greater community.
All students must be immunized and show proof of immunization prior to departure.
All students must receive a booster shot before arriving in Rome (if eligible).
Please confirm all testing obligations and documentation needed for traveling directly with your airline company.
Upon arrival at the Rome airport, the program will provide private transportation for students from the airport to campus.
Upon arrival on campus, all students:
will be given Health and Safety kits including facemasks, hand-sanitizer, information and guidelines.
Will undergo COVID-19 testing (rapid antigen test)
Trinity College Rome Campus has formed a special COVID response health team prepared to support students and respond to any COVID related situations throughout the semester. The health team will depend on and work in direct contact with a group of international and local healthcare experts and providers, which will support our campus by assisting us in safely carrying out academic and co-curricular activities, providing risk assessment, carrying out contact tracing, implementing isolation protocols, running on campus testing, carrying out health and safety training for staff, faculty and students, and providing medical support in the event of an active case.
Antigen testing (nasal swabs) individual symptom-related testing will be carried out when requested or required.
On-site Molecular (PCR) testing (nasal swabs) - On-site PCR testing will be used as a diagnostic measure following any positive rapid tests results in the case of students exhibiting symptoms. This will be carried out on-site at the student’s housing assignment. As a diagnostic form of testing, on-site PCR testing will be covered by insurance.
Individual symptom monitoring
On a daily basis students will be asked to report on any symptoms.
Everyone in our community will be expected to undergo daily temperature screening. Students will be provided with individual thermometers so that they can check their temperature daily and report this information through a protected online form. Students with respiratory symptoms and/or body temperature above 37.5° C (99.5° F) will not be permitted to access the common spaces of campus or attend classes in person.
Access to Trinity College Rome Campus Spaces – Proof of Vaccination
All students must have completed the vaccination cycle or have received a booster shot within the past 6 months in order to access the Trinity College Rome Campus.
All spaces on campus will be cleaned and disinfected daily.
Classrooms will be disinfected and aerated between lessons.
Dining areas will be disinfected between use.
Hand sanitizer units will be positioned in each classroom and at principal entrances to campus spaces
Disposable wipes or cleaning solution will be in all bathrooms, classrooms, and other shared facilities for wiping down surfaces.
All students will be housed in single rooms with individual bathrooms.
Positive students who are not in need of hospitalization will isolate in their regular rooms and will receive medical care and monitoring from local doctors on campus.
In accordance with current COVID measures in Italy, students will be required to respect social distancing rules on campus and will be expected to wear a face mask in any shared spaces. A face mask is not required when alone in one’s own bedroom.
Students will eat breakfast and lunch together in our spacious dining hall where we will be following local distancing guidelines. Operations will be in compliance with the governmental legislation regarding restaurants.
Students who are quarantined or in isolation following contraction of COVID-19 or in contact with other positive persons will have individual meals delivered to their rooms.
If students are unable to access the restaurants on the meal plan for dinner because of local COVID-19 restrictions, the program will provide individual meals for students in the evening.
In addition to the meals provided by the program, a list of food delivery providers will be made known to the students and posted on campus.
The Rome Campus has worked to develop strategies to mitigate the risk of COVID-19 transmission as much as possible. We are keeping up-to-date as more research about COVID-19 emerges and will continue to adapt our processes to meet government recommendations and current best practices. Face masks, reduced room occupancy, appropriate signage, social distancing, and increased cleaning and disinfection are some of the ways that we are working to ensure community safety in our spaces.
All Rome Campus classrooms will be disinfected and aerated between lessons.
A Rome staff member will be present at the changing of classes to make sure that proper exit and entrance routes are observed and that classrooms are empty between lessons in order to allow for proper disinfection and aeration.
Seating in classrooms will be organized to allow for proper distancing according to local distancing guidelines between room occupants.
Although students are expected to attend classes in person daily, all academic activities will be conducted in a way that allows students to remain connected with and engaged in their classes remotely in the event that they need to quarantine or isolate.
The program will maintain all precautions listed above while traveling with students. Normal semester trips might undergo changes depending on local restrictions and the ongoing health situation.
Travel within Italy: There are currently no restrictions on travel within Italy.
Travel outside of Italy: Limitations to travel outside of Italy will be dependent on local COVID protocols and restrictions.
