"This Fall I worked as an intern at Cooking Classes in Rome. I would like to consider Chef Andrea family to me. Through my internship, he has been the best part. He is a wonderful, charismatic man who is simply amazing to be around.
In my internship I would help Chef Andrea through every cooking class. I would help with cooking and cleaning as we go. I was not just another employee; I was part of the client’s experience. I would talk to the clients as we prepared dinner and learn about them. Throughout a four-hour cooking class, I created so many memories with so many people all over the world. These moments were priceless.
My internship was so joyful because I was making bonds with each client, laughing with Andrea, and then eating the amazing food that we prepared. Some classes were emotional, and it was a very humbling experience. Andrea made the classes special. [...]
This semester I have learned so much about Italian culture and Italian cuisine. I have memorized and learned so many traditional recipes, but what I will always remember is the values of Italy and family.
My cooking classes with Andrea showed me that a table filled with food is a place of unity and love no matter where you are in the world." (V.V.Z., Fall 2021)
“Cooking in Classes in Rome is an establishment in Trastevere where Chef Andrea helps people learn about the traditional food of Rome and Italy and helps them cook it.
Chef Andrea loves a hard worker. The best person for this job would be someone excited about food, able to talk and entertain others, flexible, and with good communication skills! Chef Andrea appreciates anyone excited about the experience and willing to jump in whenever needed.
During my time participating in the cooking classes, I was able to observe and help Chef Andrea, lead pasta-making, and lastly lead a few classes by myself! Chef Andrea really helped me grow in the position and as a person. Another great aspect of the internship: Chef Andrea will never let you leave hungry. This internship changed my time in Rome completely.
Chef Andrea was one of the best people I met during my time abroad, making my time in Rome even more fun and immersive. I cannot recommend this internship enough to anyone interested in food, people, and a truly fun, welcoming atmosphere.” (K.R., Fall 2019)
“As an intern for Chef Andrea, your main job is going to be The Pasta Teacher. Every night, clients make homemade pasta, and you will teach them how to do it.
Don’t worry, because Chef won’t make you do it right away. He’s a wonderful, kind, and funny man who wants to be sure that you have fun. He’ll give you a couple classes to get your feet under you, before he gives you a leadership position. While Pasta Teacher is your main role, it’s not the only thing you do. You will also help out in the kitchen (after the pasta has been completed), serve the clients, and cleans afterwards. But perhaps one of, if not the, most important skill needed for this internship is social skill.
Your job is to make sure the clients have fun, which means that you have to actively engage them. This is not a job for an introvert: you need to be the one willing to initiate conversations, you should also take on an active role in the kitchen. Chef will rarely ask you to help him, but that doesn’t mean he doesn’t need it.
Do what you see needs to be done, and if you don’t see anything, ask Chef. This position was the highlight of my time in Rome. Chef Andrea is so incredibly wonderful, and I made a lot of friends through this internship. I couldn’t recommend it enough to anyone thinking about doing an internship.” (T.R., Spring 2019)
“The internship for Cooking Classes in Rome is a unique opportunity to learn about Italian culture, eat great food, meet students in other study abroad programs, cultivate your cooking skills, and better maneuver around a kitchen.
At Cooking Classes in Rome, you help Chef Andrea with his class by working hands on with the students, helping them with cooking processes and sharing stories and facts about Italian cuisine. You also help by prepping before class, serving the food, and cleaning up after the class.
Your tutor, Chef Andrea Consoli, is a fun and knowledgeable man who makes you feel comfortable in your internship from the very beginning. The opportunity is great for anyone who is passionate about food and want a unique experience while abroad. Required skills for this internship are good people skills, being a quick learner, and having a passion for Italian food and culture.” (R.J., Spring 2019)”
