Toyota VIP RS3000 Security System with Trunk Release
Very little information exists about this particular system, and it seems to be very, very rare. Only two examples have been found so far, both of which were 1999 Toyota Camry LEs.
Based on information provided in this ToyotaNation forum thread:
PROGRAMMING electric remote trunk release:
Insert your key into the ignition and turn it to the ON position; do NOT START the car.
Press and hold in the green button for 5 seconds.
The status indicator LED flashes for 5 seconds.
Within 5 seconds, press the BOTTOM button on the remote once.
The status indicator LED turns off, the piezo buzzer "chirps" twice, and the parking lights flash twice.
You have finished programming the trunk release on that remote.
To program more remotes, repeat steps 1-4.
Remove the key from the ignition to test the remote(s).
On vehicles equipped with this system, you will see this in the PORT OR FACTORY INSTALLED EQUIPMENT:
Or at least you used to be able to. Toyota recently overhauled their website, which locked the VIN lookup to only users with Toyota Owners accounts. Even after logging in, some of the functionality seems to have been broken. No matter how many port or factory installed equipment a vehicle has, the website you only show you one, and usually the last in the list. I tried telling Toyota about this issue, but either I wasn't clear enough in my wording or they just didn't understand, the issue never got fixed.
Documentation for the electric trunk release is nowhere to be found. Not even pictures of it exist.
