Developing a clearly outlined plan for implementation of the LT, gives leaders and their team a clear vision of the path that they will need to follow. Having this plan will be valuable when making adjustments or aid in managing obstacles that they may encounter. This will serve as a foundation in guiding the next steps, keeping the project on track. Knowing “the counterpoints to the barriers to change and creating ways to circumvent them” (Conway et al., 2017, p. 18) are critical in identifying potential push backs and how to best approach them. Continuous dialogue with stakeholders and team foster open communication and allows for flexibility with roles. This agility is essential in adjusting positions when it comes to dealing with challenges, managing implementation-related politics, controlling and understanding the linkages among the different moving parts, and dealing with individual resistance to change. Flexibility and communication are critical to the successful innovation implementation process (White & Bruton, 2007, as cited in Zabala-Iturriagagoitia, 2014).
