Identifying and analyzing the framework of an organization's strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats (SWOT) can offer valuable information before the implementation of change. This exercise allows for “developing a deep understanding of the system being targeted for impact and then identifying the most promising opportunities to change based on the analysis” (Conway et al., 2017, p. 3). In addition to the opportunities revealed in this process, the challenges identified can be addressed before implementation and offers an alternative course of action. This analysis may also evaluate the “readiness” of an organization for change. Implementation capability will offer information toward necessary action, resources and time needs (Weiner, 2009, p. 4).
