Transfer of Rights:
In Nebraska, the legal age for an individual to start making their own decisions is age 19.

This means that students can make their own decisions about everything from education to where they live. If you have concerns about your son or daughter’s ability to make their own decisions, here are some of the more common options:
Supported Decision Making: SDM is an alternative to guardianship. It allows individuals with disabilities to choose “supporters.” to help them make decisions that allow the individual to retain their decision-making rights. Power of Attorney - A person authorized to make decisions on behalf of another person’s financial, health, or medical needs.
