Supports at the Job Site
Job coaches provide:
Individualized support: Job coaches work closely with our students to understand their strengths, needs, and areas for improvement. They provide individualized guidance and support tailored to the goals and aspirations.
Workplace integration: Job coaches support individuals during their transition into the workplace, helping them adapt to new environments, understand workplace norms and expectations, and develop effective relationships with co-workers and supervisors.
Training and skill development: Job coaches assess individuals' skills and identify areas for improvement. They provide training, modeling, and opportunities to practice and further develop job-related skills needed to maintain employment.
Accommodations and adaptations: Job coaches implement identified accommodations or modifications that can support individuals' success in the workplace. This may involve adapting work processes, providing assistive technology, or making physical adjustments to the workspace as approved by the vocational coordinator, related service providers, and our business partners.
Problem-solving: Job coaches help individuals navigate challenges that may arise in the workplace. They provide guidance on problem-solving techniques, conflict resolution, and advocating for individual needs or accommodations.
Advocacy and communication: Job coaches help students build self-advocacy skills by teaching them to understand and request accommodations that meet their needs. They facilitate effective communication between the individual, the vocational coordinator, and the WBL partners.
Job support: Job coaches continue supporting individuals as they build knowledge and skills. For students who work independently at job sites, job coaches assess needs through check-ins and reflections, ensuring students can continue to successfully navigate the workplace environment and address any ongoing challenges that may arise.
