Hi again girls,
How are you all? Now that we are allowed travel 5 km from home, you might be getting to explore some new places when you go for a walk or take some exercise. Don't forget to send me an email to let me know how you are getting on. Remember to break up the work during the week but do not feel under any pressure to complete them all. If you need any extra help or even a little chat I'd love to hear from you! My email address is: jhowlett@ursulineps.ie
I hope you are enjoying Oxford Owls books . It’s really important to read out loud, with someone. Use the blue buttons on the bottom right of the screen to turn the pages. Maybe pick a page or two that you found a little difficult and read those several times. Ask somebody at home to ask you a few questions about your book to make sure you’re understanding what you’re reading. Even try reading some books that you may have at home!
Below is another set of books that you might be interested in from a website called Capstone: Once you click into it,

Here is a story to listen to called 'Lucy in Lockdown'. This may help children who might be worried about the changes we've seen lately.
Let's Brainstorm!
This week, I want us to focus on 'er' words. How many words can you think of with the sound er in it?
Can you make some sentences with these 'er' words in your copy or saying it out loud to someone. Try to make your sentences interesting by adding descriptive words. Remember to use your dictionary to look up any words that you do not understand. The 'er' words below can help you.
If you would like to practice this sound even more, here are some worksheets:
Let's try practice our addition and subtraction sums. Keep an eye out for the sign before you begin your sum. Think about whether you should take away or add.
If it is a subtraction sum.. remember:
More on the top... no need to stop
More on the floor, go next door and get 10 more
Things to think about when trying a Maths word problem:
What is the problem about?
What is the problem asking?
What is the best way to solve this?
What kind of sum should I do? + - x
Does my answer make sense?
Did I check I did my sum?
