Hello Girls!
I hope you are all still keeping well. I am missing seeing all of your smiling faces and hope to see you again soon. How are you all finding the work that I am setting? If you have any problems with it, you can email me. I would love to hear from you. My email is jhowlett@ursulineps.ie
Are you still reading books from Oxford Owl? If so, then keep reading more of these at your level. Maybe you are reading some of your own books at home? That's great if you are. I'd love to hear about your favourite book at the moment!
A story that I am recommending this week from StoryLine Online is : Lotus & Feather by Michelle Yeoh
Waterford Libraries Reading Challenge!
We're into the second week of the Waterford Libaries Reading Challenge. I hope you are having fun with it!
This week, I want us to focus on 'ar' words. How many words can you think of with the sound ar in it? Some of the words start with 'ar, others have 'ar in the middle of the word and others have 'ar' at the end. (Notice the tricky words - the 'ar' in pillar and dollar has a slightly different sound to 'ar' in all the other words.) Use your dictionary to look up any word you don't understand.
Can you make some sentences with these 'ar' words in your copy or saying it out loud to someone. Try to make your sentences interesting by adding descriptive words. The 'ar' words below can help you.
If you would like to practice this sound even more, here are some worksheets:
