CONSOLE WARS
As january wraps up and several video game enthusiasts at this point have gotten their hands on the elusive PS5 and Xbox Series X. Whether you are a diehard fan, or a gamer who can’t decide, everyone is wondering, what is better: the PS5 or the Xbox Series X? I want to decide what is the definitive superior console. Keep in mind that just because I will decide which is the better console, it is all in my opinion and you are free to love whichever game system you own.
Based on raw numerical data and specs, it has been determined by Polygon that “The Xbox Series X has about 18% more processing power than the ps5” however it has also been determined that “the consoles are very close in power”. Also what is important to note is that just because a console has more processing power doesn’t mean it is overall better. Also if the percentage were greater I would assume it would have more merit because 18% isn’t that much to go crazy over and say the Xbox Series X is better.
Furthermore there are a variety of games that are on both consoles which makes the choice irrelevant. Popular games such as the Assassin's Creed series and Call of Duty are on both consoles however there are always those pesky exclusive games! The PS5 has exclusive games such as the Demon Souls Remake and the new Spiderman Miles Morales. While the Xbox Series X has games such as Halo Infinite and Forza Horizon 4. So what could influence your choice are actually what kind of games do you want!
What is also heavily important to gaming is the controller that you decide to use! The PS5 has made a great effort to improve on their dualshock controller design and the controller know has bumpers that adapt to what type of game you are playing. The controller also has heightened senses to immerse you into the game. Meanwhile the Xbox Series X controller hasn’t changed much compared to its predecessor. The controller is mostly the same except for a few minor touch ups to the bumpers and D-Pad. The PS5 has got the Xbox Series X this time!
So in the end, which console is better? Sorry to have a cop-out ending but the decision is really up to you! Every gamer should have the right to choose which game they want to play and it all depends on which console those games are on. What also could impact your decision is what console your friend group or fellow gamers have. Both consoles are perfectly fine and are fitting for the new decade!
