A unique treat ancestral to Lungworms is the possession of toxins. These toxins come from the bodies of poisonous Insects that Lungworms prefer to eat catching them by lunging forward in a snake-like motion. The Lungworms are immune to these toxins storing the Toxins in their stomach tissue and liver. If these organs are ruptured it will render their flesh unpalatable and predators don’t want to go through the hassle of eating them. The fin and stomachs are colored in bright shades of yellow, orange, brown, red, and pink depending on the species advertising their toxicity to predators.
Ironically the main predator of lungworms is other lungworms. All species practice cannibalism adults will eat younger individuals if they come across them as one of the only animals that can stomach their own toxicity. To escape their elders young will barry themselves into the soil. Lungeworms have very poor eyesight and hunt with smell and touch and animals or objects that aren’t moving are completely ignored. Lungeworms are at a far greater risk of being stepped on by Hoppers and Tera Squid or having the leaf litter their in get overturned exposing them to larger Lungworms that might want to eat them.
