Furred Squid Part 1

(Silly little guys)

Furred Squid (Pilosateuthida) a clade of small squid rodents adorn in integuments made out of chitin, like the wings of insects have found great success since their evolution 5 million years ago.

Aside from one group, there are still very small among the smallest of all Terra Squid and creatures of the night.

Paradoxically their nocturnal habits have given them brighter colors. The chromatophores of this clade are built into the chitin integument giving them the best control over them of any Tera Squids.

Their variety of colors allows them to recognize each other since their u-shaped pupils filter the glow out from the dark and flash-bang attacking Squi-Flyers and Owl Blish who have sensitive eyes. Their most common predator is Lunge-Worms who hunt through sent and are almost blind, to begin with.

Pikasqu a guinea pig-sized alpine squid is somewhat unique in comparison to others in the clade.

Well still partaking in insects they also indulge in a good amount of mountain grasses in the coastal mountains.

Well, their fur is mostly gray in color the rump is adorned with a bright patch of yellow and red on the back.

Most of their predators are Raptorial Blish that attack them from the backside. The long fur is reinforced with thick loose skin allowing the Pikasqu to turn and face its attacker which can lead them to drop it.

As well as display their colors can be used in displays like the Sing Song a rat-sized more typical bipedal insectivore found in forested environments.

Their name comes from the boisterous vocalizations the males produce to attract mates. Their arms are adorned in draping's of long purple hairs that glow against the white and black of the rest of their body.

As a very common animal, their panpipe vocalizations are very frequent at night.

Like cricket chirping their songs are a background ambiance to the forest night, their dazzles and dances of purple illuminating the Ferns and Vacciniums of the understory.

The nights might also be interrupted by flashes of blue and cyan from perhaps the oddest of the furred squid.

The Sqarachute is a mouse-sized insectivore much like the Sing-Song who it shares an ancestor with, that looked more like the ladder.

Its most striking feature is the drapes of their arms form a rouge gliding surface allowing them to travel across trees or to fall out of tree branches when accosted by predators.
