Galicults are a family of Rhea-sized Rapducken found across the eastern forests having largely supplanted their more basal relatives.
They have taken the Rapducken's nesting colonies to a year-round social structure with harems joining together to form flocks numbering in the hundreds.
This social structure is most like that of baboons and like them are quite vocal animals (start at 01:32), vocalizations play a role in easing tensions and reestablishing harem bonds, their vocalizations can be heard quite clearly in the eastern forests throughout the day.
Large groups are useful for predator detection as fairly small animals that feed on low-growing plants.
Most striking is the signaling display along the tail, which is longer on males. These are homologous to the quilled tail plumes on Strideraptors but instead of being a single quill with a bulb on the end, the bulb runs alone the entirety of the follicle down to the skin.
This is the most complex skin integument of any Ichthyopteran the feather-like quills contrast against the simple mammal-like fur on the rest of their bodies.
