Student Musicians

At Granite Hills there are many talented musicians and artists, who can sing, play the guitar and many different instruments. Here are some of those students.

Alli Benedict (21) started playing an instrument in 5th grade, starting with flute. She also plays piccolo, clarinet, alto and tenor saxophone, and ukulele. She wants to learn how to play another 4 instruments before college.

Benedict wants her major to lead to either being a Music Educator or Flute Performer.

Anthony Ojeda (20) and Andrew Yette (20) played a cover of Ed Sheeran’s “I See Fire,” with Yette playing guitar and Ojeda singing. The two are both in the guitar class, though Ojeda has only recently started playing guitar.

Ojeda has been singing for five years, and Yette has been playing guitar for eight. Yette also plays piano and drums, and wants to improve at piano. Ojeda wants to learn how to play the piano.

Ojeda has been playing for so long that it became one of the activities he enjoys doing. Yette, on the other hand, enjoys playing guitar because of the way it seems to distance him from the world.

Brooke Scudder (19) is in choir at Granite Hills, and has been in choir in other schools since sixth grade. She is learning and wants to continue playing and improving her piano skills. While she wouldn’t want to do something with music professionally, she does want to continue with music for fun.

Scudder started singing because of all of the options in middle school, it was one she was already able to do. Singing is also one of the activities you are able to do all of the time.
