Biography
Hey everyone! I'm Daniel, a translator born and raised in Porto Alegre, Brazil. Despite my background in Biology, it's in translating digital games where I found my true passion. I love playing with words, blending creativity with a smart and fun touch, always paying attention to the details.
My journey
In 2014, I graduated in Biological Sciences from PUCRS. I spent three years deeply involved in research, exploring areas such as ecology, entomology, and even scientific collections curation.
This eternal curiosity has always been with me, and as a scientist, I bring that into my work, forever seeking to improve my skills and experiences.
Later, on an adventure in the healthcare product industry, I worked as a Quality Inspector and Technical Responsible, honing my self-critical view and dedication to the quality of my work.
Path with English language
English has always been part of my life, from childhood games to academic articles. In 2015, I elevated my skills by studying at IBAT College Dublin in Ireland, where I earned the "Cambridge Certificate in Advanced English: C1 level."
From IT Translator to the Gaming Universe
I kicked off my career as a translator in 2021, translating scientific articles and IT teaching materials, especially in programming. That's how I dove into the translation world, learning tools like Xbench, Trados Studio, and XTM.
In 2022, everything changed: I translated my first digital game. It was then that my passion exploded! Blending work with my favorite hobby was surreal! I attended in a course on translating digital and analog games, fueling this passion even more.
Localization
As Anthony Burgess once said, localization is more than just translating words. It's transferring emotions between cultures, keeping the vibe and context intact. My academic background, understanding of the global scenario, and passion for literature, movies, and games allow me to embrace a wide range of translation and localization projects.
The Gaming World
Translating a game isn't merely shifting words from one language to another. A translator is like a linguistic alchemist, blending word poetry with code logic to craft a unique, immersive experience for players.
It's a world of strategy and challenge, where each translated word not only conveys meaning but also the atmosphere, emotion, and adrenaline of the game. We are like word wizards, ensuring every player feels immersed in the adventure, regardless of their spoken language.
As a translator, it's an exhilarating journey to capture the essence of the plot, gaming mechanics, and dialogues, transmitting all the fun and excitement to Brazilian players. Every technical term or pun is like a puzzle to be solved, maintaining cohesion and fun throughout.
