Introduction

We chose to learn the guitar for its sound and portability as well as ease as an affordable first instrument. There is also much free instruction for the guitar. It is wonderful to play in groups with others. Music is readily available for the guitar including theocratic. We also really look forward to also playing various flutes in the new system. When Claude(Paul's Dad) has had the time he has enjoyed playing his Hammond organ. Marion(Kathy's Mom) plays the piano. This system does not allow us much brains and time to play but one day we look forward to more time to play along with Dad, Marion and others.

We bought some new strings for a guitar we were given by Dad(Claude) from an Uncle(Gerald) of ours. It will be very useful as we want to try to learn a skill together that we both can enjoy. Obviously, we settled togather on learning to play a guitar. We started a blog site just for this new hobby and anyone may follow at Acoustic Achord.blogspot.com that is occasionally updated with our progress. We will occasionally add any noticeable progress with this hobby to these guitar pages as well.

We purchased a Lucero LC150S Classical Guitar so we each would have a guitar to learn to play. We really love the sound of this guitar. Learning goes very slow, but it is a hobby we can take with us to the new system where we will really have the opportunity and brain to learn music and enjoy forever with Friends in full.

Paul: From my school days of trying to learn music starting with the recorder I have always had a hard time learning, leading me to giving up. Factors have been, for one, my difficulty in learning and remembering things. As for the recorder, I never did like the sharp tone of the beginner soprano recorder. I did also try on an alto recorder but did only little better. I have tried to learn on a clarinet, flute, and a keyboard but have never caught on. Since Kathy has shown interest in learning the guitar and we have two Friends in the congregation that play with it has a hobby we decided to learn to play guitar as it is somthing Kathy and I can learn to do togather. Our health really is interfering with this, but I pull the guitar out once in awhile and pluck on 'Christian Dedication' or a few chords. I am having a hard time learning chords and transitioning between them but I keep trying. I fear not being able to learn much now though, as this is only a hobby, only a taste of the many skills to learn in the future. Besides the Guitar, I also want to learn the Piano, Organ, but most of all I want to learn various types of Flutes, Orchestral, Indian, and Pan pipes, but that will be in the new system. I love the airy sounds of flutes. My dad has not played in years, but he has a couple Organs, one being a Hammond. He also used to play the cornet horn many years ago. My Brothers interest in music has lead them to learn to play DVD's. ͡° ͜ ͡° 𝄢

Kathy: I am finding I am having a hard time being able to keep at practice, but playing guitar is a real interest of mine. Like Paul, I look forward to doing better in the near future. I really enjoy the sound of our Classical Guitar we picked out togather.

I also look forward to playing the piano. Perhaps I will be able to learn to play the Piano from using my Mother one day. We are separated by distance do not have the time to learn during our visits, not to mention mental aptitude right now . ۶◔ ͜ ◔۶

Piano

Kathy: My Mom (Marion) has an upright piano in her guest bedroom. Marion likes playing it when she is able. We would love to be able to spend the time on it needed to learn to play from her, alas she lives in Myrtle Creek (below roseburg) and what time we spend there is used to visit and do chores. I especially would really love to play the Piano.

Paul: When I was a kid my parents brought home from the GoodWill a Reed ar organ that I enjoyed playing impromptu melody's. I later bought a basic keyboard but did not spend the time I would need to really learn how to play it. I later gave it a way to a friend. Years later I got a chance to practice on Marion's piano on April 29, 2017. After over a couple dozen run throughs of 'Christian Dedication' and several recording try's here is one of my best attempts.

After I got to saying to to a Friend(Jay L.) how I enjoyed playing my Mother In Law's piano he brought us over an extra keyboard he had for us to practice on. At first I set it up to play outside on the porch when it is nice out while we made a place for it to live in the house. Once summer was over I moved it inside to continue my PLV lessons and I am now on Year 1 Unit 3

Music With Our Friends

Paul: A time is coming when my wife Kathy as and I envision ourselves playing along with our Friends togather with true joy in the new system. We want to learn the Kingdom songs we will be sharing to gather in the new system, the first one we are working on is 'Christian Dedication' along with Jay L.(on the left), a Friend from childhood. Right now my efforts are recognizable as a plucked tune, but one would certainly would not want to try to sing to it. I have very long way to go with chords. Never fear though, eternity is a long time. Curt W. already knows how to play so we all enjoy it when he is able to play for us or groups. I know as time moves on into the future we will have many more friends to join togather in song.
