Our Family's Kingdom Hall History

3 John 1:14 However, I am hoping to see you soon, and we will speak face-to-face. May you have peace. The friends send you their greetings. Give my greetings to the friends by name.

Our family has attended several halls and congregations over the years in Eugene as territories have changed.

The Hall our family first attended was on Washington St.(Westmorland cong) then we were moved to the original location of the Polk St. Hall(West cong).  A new Hall was then built on Minnesota St. off Barger(West), we went there for several years until we were assigned back to the Polk St. Hall(West) for some years before then being sent back to the Minnesota Hall during a territory adjustment to attend the newly created (Royal Oaks Congregation).  It was decided then to sell the Minnesota Hall and build a new one in a non-residential location on Barger Rd. where the Royal Oaks, Clear Lake and ASL congregations then attended.

UPDATE: June 15, 2017   It was announced at the midweek meeting that as of July 1 there was a restructuring of the congregations in Eugene.   One congregation has been deleted and the others renamed.   The new names are:  West,  Bethel,  Rosewood,  North,  and South.   We are now part of the West congregation once again, as it was once the congregation name we as a family attended together before the Royal Oaks congregation was created.   Now Craig(Bro),  Paul(Bro),  Kathy(Paul's Wife) from the Royal Oaks congregation are now back together with Claude(Dad) and Earl(Bro)who had been going to the Clear Lake and Rosewood hall.   Only Cecil(Bro) will still be going to the Rosewood hall.   The restructuring of the congregations was done to balance out the number of;  Territory to cover,   Publishers,  Pioneers and  Elders in the Eugene area.  We look forward to supporting the new arrangement.  The Elders and Servants of the congregations even did a wonderful video of why it needed to be done,   and their positive reactions to the arrangement despite the initial surprise.  It was no  problem to most as it is a normal occurrence that happens as territory become denser and territory and hall changes need to be made.

Facts:

The Washington St. location was sold. (196?) Westmorland Cong.

The Polk St. Hall was originally on 16 Ave. (an alley type drive) next to the  Amazon Creek.  This location was later sold to rebuild the Hall further South on Polk st., to a more visible location.  The original Polk st. location  had a stone corner tower as a feature.  (19??)

Paul and Earl were youths when the Minnesota St. Hall was built and they hung around the outskirts of the construction area.  Paul still has some of the whistles he made from the metal strapping that was used for the concrete work forms.  Dad helped with the cabinetry the wooden restroom stall partitions, and chair arms.  Paul remembers checking out the crawl space under the sloped floor. (19??)

Cecil is attending a congregation at the River Rd. and Rosewood Kingdom Hall.

Claude, Earl, Paul and Kathy helped with construction of the new Barger Hall in 1997.  As Paul was helping with the concrete work, he noticed Kathy and was very impressed by her hard work as she was moving concrete form stakes rather than spending time preparing the wonderful food for the workers with the other Sisters at the neighboring Sissic family home.  During the actual construction Paul and Earl were on auxiliary parking lot duty for vehicle watch.  Paul also was on the building site night watch with his Ham radio duty to discourage theft.
