The Velar was founded by a group of five adventurers who have unearthed and studied the previous iteration of the universe before the Rebirth. Through records, the founders came to know of The Sentry, a righteous league of heroes dedicated to the protection of mortalkind. The founders then swore to continue what The Sentry started as the titular, Velar.Â
The Velar is now a small multiplanar society open to those with no attachments and those with an unwavering dedication to saving lives and fighting all kinds of evil. The Velar is different from The Sentry in many ways.
The Velar has repurposed the once unimaginable fortress of the Sentry to a floating, shining city of hope against the unending mist and terrors of the Ethereal Plane. The city serves as a nexus of diplomacy and trade, a repository of histories and secrets, and a thriving sanctuary for those seeking safety or a better life.
The Velar's hierarchy is loose and fluid as for leadership, The Creator spearheads the Velar and is the one responsible for resource management, and is the one in charge of keeping watch of the city.
For its membership, the Creator chooses twenty active members of the Velar for its high-profile quests. Called the Eikons, the twenty will be the highest position one can have in The Velar. A person can be chosen by the Creator to be inducted into The Velar but the person would have to gain keep and feats in order to be knighted into the titled twenty (this is in tandem with the fact that one of the twenty being unable to fulfill their duty either by death or any form of incapacitation).
The Velar acknowledges the presence of powerful deities and understands the relationship needed for order. As such, the Velar has a symbiotic partnership with the better-aligned (and some malaligned) lesser deities to achieve healthy co-existence.
The Velar believes that its members are needed to be well-equipped in their duty. The Velar has a variety of resources available for use for all its heroic members such as A Fountain of Youth, A Branch of Yggdrasil, the Artifact Devourer -- Yklylfyllghr, the Soulforge Well, and many more.
