Dan James came to Man United from the Welsh club Swansea in the summer of 2019, when united paid 15m for the speedy wide man. Dan started his career at united flying with a player of the month win in August. Since then, the young lad hasn't had the same impact as he had in his first month at the club but still has been bright. This article will discuss how the fans treat him and how some of our fanbase unfairly scapegoat him.
Fans treating him poorly
The united fanbase loves a big signing, but Dan James was the opposite which some fans see as not as glamorous as signings like Sancho or Fernandes. A few weeks before his united signing, the young man lost his father and failed the transfer to Leeds United only the winter before joining us.
Some fans treat him as if he isn't good, and they all have agendas against him. They say he only has speed, but they ignore the tracking back he does and how Ole uses him against bigger teams. They forget how some of our so-called stars don't track back and how much Solskjaer values hard work in his players, which he sees his Dan James.
James is the scapegoat on Twitter for many fans to have a go at and make fun of when things go wrong. They will always say he is why the team lost or that we would have won if so or so had played. This is the same fanbase that criticises Ole when he doesn't rotate, but it seems they like rotation when it's players they want.
Pitting against other players
These fans love comparing James to other wingers at the club when all four wingers are very different. Greenwood and James often are compared, and fans complain when James plays instead of Mason. Mason is a natural striker and not a winger, so the comparison is unfair in many ways.
The other player often compared to James is new signing Amad, who, in many ways, Dan isn't, and they think Dan is stealing a place from him, which isn't true. Before joining us, Amad only played one full game of senior football and isn't ready for full-time men's football. Can we as fans stop pitting these players against each other and enjoy watching them?
James is not going to sound good on a Twitter @, and that's why fans want players with cool names but don't realise that for every Ronaldo, there is another player is working hard for the team and doing the dirty work, making it easier for the star players to do their thing.
People need to respect James more and realise that he is an entirely different player on the left. Even Juve legend Giorgio Chiellini said in an interview that he likes watching Dan play. Saying, "I like watching Daniel play; he's growing up at Man United.". This is a big compliment and one some of our fans should note off and maybe start treating Dan with the respect he deserves.
