Ole's Manchester United side yet again take on West Ham at 7:45 BST, this fixture being part of the Carabao Cup. After a thrilling win against them on the weekend, thanks to a late winner from former Hammers loanee Jesse Lingard, and a penalty save from De Gea in the final moments, we will for sure be looking to book our place in the next round.
Ole is almost certain to rotate the side, as key players have been playing a lot of minutes recently. There are opportunities for those on the fringes of the starting 11, such as Donny Van de Beek, Martial, Bailly and more to prove themselves. Alex Telles looks set to return to the squad after an injury, and Dean Henderson looks likely to start between the posts. Taking the place of David De Gea. Phil Jones is also likely to feature for the first time after a 20 month absence. Ole stated "he [Phil Jones] will also be in the squad. It’s a good day for him and for us and it’s something that he has earned.”
It is likely that youth may also be given a chance, with Elanga reportedly impressing in pre season and in training. However Teden Mengi and Shola Shoretire are unlikely to be a part of the squad, after being part of the team that beat Bradford 0-3 in the Papa John's Trophy.
Jones, however, may feature as a holding midfielder. In his recent u23 games to increase fitness, he has operated in the role. Due to the clubs current lack of an out and out holding midfielder, Jones may be trialled in this position in this fixture.
Marcus Rashford and Amad are both going to miss out on a place, as both are still out injured. We are unsure when Amad is likely to return, however Ole had stated that Rashford will likely return after the international break.
As for West Ham, Michail Antonio will be available from his suspension. Loanees Areola and Kral may also be set to make their debuts.
While it is likely both sides will field somewhat weaker sides, both teams will be keen to win silverware this season, and this is a fantastic chance to do so. West Ham will also be out for revenge. After narrowly missing out on Sunday, they will certainly be up for this game, so it will be important for us to control the game right from the start.
