It was an excellent team performance against Leeds which saw United run out 4-2 victors. After one of the most satisfying wins of the season thus far, here are my player ratings;
David De Gea: 4/10
Potentially could’ve done better to prevent Leeds’ first goal, but it would be harsh to place too much blame on him. Distribution was poor, however he made a few decent saves.
Aaron Wan-Bissaka: 7/10
Looked very solid in his first game back in 9. Made some decent tackles and progressed the ball well from the back. This performance could well be enough to keep him in the team for Wednesday’s Champions League tie vs Atletico Madrid.
Victor Lindelöf: 8/10
Barely put a foot wrong all game. Looked solid through the game’s entirety, being strong in the air as well as being the source of the second goal with a brilliant run from the back. Long passes were also on point for the Swede.
Harry Maguire: 9/10
Like his partner, there wasn’t much that got past him all game. A brilliant performance topped off with United’s first set-piece goal since dinosaurs roamed the planet.
Luke Shaw: 6/10
Decent for most of the game, but could’ve done better for Raphinha’s equaliser. Assisted Maguire’s goal from the corner.
Scott McTominay: 7/10
Despite being at risk of being dismissed late on, Scott held down the fort in midfield behind Bruno and Pogba, allowing those two to do what they do best. A very solid performance.
Paul Pogba: 8/10
Had Adam Forshaw on skates. Dazzled with incredible pieces of skill and was creating chances for fun. Could’ve had an assist after a brilliant ball to Ronaldo who failed to convert. His rating most likely would be higher if it had not been for his withdrawal in the 67th minute.
Bruno Fernandes: 9/10
A magnifico performance from the man himself with a goal and assist. Created a couple of chances and covered plenty of ground as well. MOTM contender.
Jesse Lingard: 5/10
Nothing outrageous from Lingard today, good or bad, but he played his part in the win nonetheless.
Jadon Sancho: 9/10
Getting better and better every week. Tortured the Leeds defence throughout, and racked up 2 deserved assists. Another really positive display.
Cristiano Ronaldo: 4/10
Perhaps should’ve scored off of Pogba’s cross, but was decent nonetheless. Wasn’t overly effective but wasn’t actively destructive in attack either.
Fred: 7/10
Played very well when subbed on, rifling the ball last Meslier to put United back in the lead. Another whose rating would be higher if they had gotten more minutes.
Elanga: 7/10
Scored a very satisfying goal after being hit in the head by an idiot Leeds fan. Another promising performance for the youngster
Raphael Varane: 5/10
Solidified the defence when subbed on, but didn’t have enough time to prove he warrants more than a 5
