Britt Stadig received her BFA from the University of Connecticut in Storrs, Connecticut, and an MFA in Book Arts and Printmaking from The University of the Arts in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She is a practicing and exhibiting studio artist, bookbinder, and teacher in Nashville, TN. Stadig established Studio LLC in 2015. In addition to creating her own artist books and mixed-media works, Stadig collaborates with other fine artists and designers to produce custom, limited-edition, and one-of-a-kind artist book editions and custom enclosures. The studio is dedicated to the fusion of high craft and fine art with any and all types of collaborations.

About the Art:
Rust Box No.1 is a large custom enclosure that houses 12 small unique custom enclosures. All are created by hand and all are constructed from board, paper, cloth and leather scrap materials rescued from the landfill. The piece was made to be played with allowing the viewer to not only see the myriad of enclosures that can be produced but to discover found objects and artist books also made by the artist. The 12 small boxes are the same dimensions so that they can be put back in the large box in any order. The work is meant to demonstrate that high craft and fine art can coexist because they rely on each other hopefully creating a symbiotic relationship.
