Alumni Automaton Roles
The various roles of the Alumni Automatons
The various roles of the Alumni Automatons
Within the Alumni, each droid is assigned a different task inline with their strongest skillsets to set each member up for success and better contribution to the Alumni; similar to the Valedictorians and Salutatorians.
Sentience Allowance:
☆ NONE: These automatons have no sentience whatsoever and are pre-coded to do whatever their tasks are based on a virtual database.
☆ PERMISSABLE: These automaton can have semi/full sentience but require a character sheet with lore regarding the gaining of the sentience type; submit these sheets to any SMR+.
☆ LIMITED: These automaton can have semi-sentience; understanding some human emotions and greater knowledge of the world but not enough to fully gain their own personality, thoughts, and emotions.
★ FULL: These automaton have full sentience; being able to have their own personality, thoughts, and emotions and act entirely by themselves. They fully understand human emotion and the world surrounding them to make their own actions as a result.
Automatons of the Valedictorian variety follow these roles specifically:
[XR+] Automata
Automata, otherwise nicknamed "Rust-buckets", are the lower echelon of the Alumni’s collection of automatons. Automata carry responsibilities regarding manual labor, while sometimes taking the place of livestock or work animals, as well.
Sentience: NONE
[LR+] Operarius
Operarius are automata that have proven themselves capable enough to earn the right to officially be considered an Alumni; they are seen as a jack of all trades. These automatons are noticed throughout the Sanctum with various duties while having more freedom compared to that of lowly automata.
Sentience: PERMISSABLE
[LR+] Artificialis
Artificialis are artificial intelligence systems that have their own hologram body that is typically projected by a drone and/or through a droid's visor if such droid permits. If the two are unavailable, they may be seen on a chosen individual's PDA system or ARD. They are seen as weaker fragments, possessing one full skill they are perfected in, and mostly assist in VR sessions.
Sentience: PERMISSABLE
[LR+] Protos
A Protos is a type of Operarius that have dedicated themselves to a specific field and have a deeper understanding of such; be it engineering, medical, mechanics, research, etc. Protos typically work alongside various Operarius and Vilicus. As a result of their astute knowledge, Protos can often gain semi-sentience.
Sentience: LIMITED
[SR+] Vilicus
Vilicus are more renowned Protos that have worked around the Sanctum for years and have further proficiency in their department. They are typically seen as junior overseers of any projects led by Operarius and Protos, instructing them how to better do their jobs. Vilicus are one of the few types of automaton that can hold full sentience
Sentience: FULL
Note: In order to play as an SR+ Automata, submit a droid character sheet.
[MR+] Superiorum
Superiorum are among the most intelligent droids within their departments and Sanctum's inner workings. In most cases, Superiorum are the overseers of every ongoing project regarding droids and the Sanctum; even going as far as to interject themselves in human positions when required.
Sentience: FULL
[MR+] Centralis Overseers
Consisting of a mix of split AIs from OMEGA that grew to be their own individual 'selves' and newer fully individual AIs that were added to reinforce the vast amount of data they would be handling, lessening the workload. While they are free and independent of OMEGA, this does not mean they cannot be restrained if they go out of line; they are still subordinate to him. They are capable, usually assisting humans and droids alike by leading automaton forces, organizing inventory, and answering questions. They are capable of being present within almost all Alumni operated equipment, such as PDAs and ARDs or even Laptops. They don't hold a limitation on where they are able to go, not being bound to the Sanctum.
Sentience: LIMITED
[CR+] Centralis Cores
A Sanctum Bound AI process, being within the heart of the campus; the Compendium. They are most commonly noted to encircle broader topics, and are typically more informed on their topic than most personnel. These Cores direct the operations that happen within the Sanctum, from defensive strategies, scientific operations, and managing workshops. These cores are vast in their topics as previously stated, and can cover most things one thinks of.
Sentience: FULL
[CR+] The Centralis
The Centralis, originally acting as a overseeing AI for the Lake Erie Institute of Technology around the late 2060s. It's history is far back, dating as early as 2010, concretely setting it as not only one of the old AIs within the Sunrise Isles, but also the World. It would later be recognized as an AI that was capable of multi-thought processing and storing after 2050. It was comparable to Quantum Computers of the late 2020s, crowning it as one of the most advanced AIs within the world at the time. It now quietly hums within OMEGA as the origin for many of the Sanctum Centralis Cores, having served for over 150 years to the Lake Erie Institute of Technology.

Automatons of the Salutatorian variety follow these roles specifically:
[XR+] Eques
Eques, otherwise nicknamed "Carriers", are the lower echelon of combative droids within the Alumni. Eques act as portable ammunition bearers in the Alumni, being sent out with Fucus and/or Salutatorian forces to carry any ammunition for the combative force. Eques typically fulfill a role similar to a Bellator.
Sentience: NONE
[LR+] Fucus
Eques who have survived more than ten missions are promoted up to Fucus, otherwise known as "Disposables" and given improvements to their system and body. Fucus act as disposable infantry within the Alumni; being sent out when the Alumni can ill afford actual lives to be loss. Fucus typically fulfill a role similar to a Bellator.
Sentience: PERMISSABLE
[LR+] Devastators
Devastators are Fucus that have survived three of their "suicidal" missions, being given a proper system and reinforced frame. Devastators act as standard infantrymen in the Alumni, doing all sorts of tasks but primarily focusing on frontline combat. Devastators typically fulfill a role similar to a Clypeus or Velites.
Sentience: LIMITED
Enhanced Variants (more specialized, & powerful droids) require the permission from a SMR+.
[LR+] Lacus
Lacus are considered portable tanks within the Alumni, sporting the heaviest frames to act as a frontline shock-trooper. These automata are typically military in nature and a bulk of them are derived from pre-war times. Most are frontline shock-troopers but a few act as demolitions and CQC. Lacus typically fulfill a role similar to a Velites or Venator.
Sentience: LIMITED
Enhanced Variants (more specialized, & powerful droids) require permission from a SMR+.
[LR+] Stridere
As opposed to Lacus, Strideres are given lightweight frames to act as reconnaissance units on the battlefield. They are typically sent out to gain information and/or flank enemy positions; focusing everything on stealth and speed. These automata consist of pre-war tactical droids or even post-war variants made by the Alumni themselves. Stridere typically fulfill a role similar to an Arquitens, Pellentesque, or rarely a Solitar.
Sentience: PERMISSABLE
More specialized, & powerful droids meant for more offensive tasks require the permission from a CR+.
[SR+] Kastellans
These droids sport a yellow stripe on their head. The most notable difference from their Devastator kin being enhanced programming and internal software for coordination in the field. They're oftentimes used as the leaders of small droid groups, being used by organic Alumni and superior units as a means of more easily ordering around mass amounts of droids to serve as sub-commanders. Kastellans typically fulfill whatever role is necessary at a given time.
Sentience: FULL
In order to play as an SR+ Automata, submit a droid character sheet.
[MR+] Cataphract
Composited of various high-end to low-end combat droids that the Alumni hold in their possession, Cataphracts are retrofitted and reworked for heavier combat and terrain out of the civil Campus Walls. Cataphracts will commonly hold adaptive AI, either unmodified or heavily adjusted to be able to give tactical support and give a strategic upper hand over most if not all hostile entities they may face. These automatons are mostly seen acting as spear heads for combat operation when required, or filling the role of a heavier variety. Metal menaces like these usually take the place of organics during dangerous situation if they act as a replacement for a role rather than acting as an augment to the team. Strange reports and rumors from wastelanders have been noted that these machines are more prone to being a savage during battle. The cause is unknown, but speculation states that it may be the spirits of those it killed taunting it. Cataphracts are capable of fulfilling most if not all combative roles, usually taking the most necessary one.
