Let's list off the Modules involved in this modest system
In this system there are three basic Modules:
6 page shredding
75 page auto-feed shredding
Manual Operation
Many of the components in these three modules are shared. The main differences between the modules is the application of paper with the shredding teeth.
Safety: There are several built-in safety features in the Ativa shredder. It could be argued that safety is a module in and of itself, but because of the interconnection of the safety features with the actual operation of function in the modules I have included them as components to the three modules.
6 Page Shredding: This module is capable of shredding up-to 6 page simultaneously as well as credit cards, joined papers with staples and some paperclips.
There is a separate labeled feed slot for this module. All paper, up to 6 pages at a time, inserted in to this slot should be expected to be shredded at once until the machine does not detect any more paper.
75 Page Auto-Feeding Shredding: This Module is capable of shredding 75 pages but instead of shredding all at once this module relies on a feed ramp and feed rollers to shred one page at a time and continues until a stack of pages is not detected.
The opening for this module is located just behind the 6-page slot and is labeled as having a 75-sheet maximum. Because this module relies on feeding one page at a time, in order not to cause a jam it is vital and clearly labeled that all pages be separate from each other and not have any staples or paperclips.
Manual Operation: On the front of the shredder there are three buttons, one with a universal power symbol with the word "AUTO" in the center of two others with up and down pointing chevrons with "REV" and "FWD" written below them respectively.
These buttons are to operate the shredder in Manual mode that is free of many of the sensor input interferences.
By pressing the center "AUTO" button the light behind the button will illuminate and the shredder will enter to "auto mode" that will shred paper that is placed into the shredder. when pressed again the shredder will immediately stop regardless of sensor input.
The REV and FWD buttons act to turn the shredder in a reverse and forward motion without the need of sensor inputs.
This Modules main intended purpose is to be used in a maintenance capacity to clear jams.
