Thursday, May 9, 2024 from 11:00 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. CT
Kickoff Overview: Join us for an engaging session that will bring together LEAs and partners from all cycles to celebrate our journeys and accomplishments over the last planning year, look ahead at what’s to come with the ADSY PEP Summer initiative this summer and beyond as we pass the torch to our ESC partners, and connect in small group conversations to support you in implementing a strong program start and finish. We look forward to seeing you at our last learning community gathering before summer programs launch!
Featured Speakers: The Learning Agenda | Design & Implementation Partners from Big Thought, Weikart, FourPoint Education Partners, SCRI, and Westat/RFL | Texas Education Agency (TEA) | Leadership from ESCs 1, 11, and 20
Intended Audience: Project Managers, Steering Committee Members, and any Additional Campus and District Leadership that LEAs would like to invite. All Project Managers are required to attend the full session. We strongly encourage each LEA to bring at least one member from your steering committee and/or campus leads that support program implementation and evaluation. In the event a project manager cannot attend, you should appoint and prepare a representative to attend on your behalf. If no LEA representatives can attend, the Project Manager should notify TLA and TEA by the registration deadline to discuss next steps.

Preparing for a Strong Summer Start & Finish (Choice Breakouts)
Beyond the Survey- Creative Feedback & Debriefing Methods: Are surveys giving you what you need from staff, students, and families, or is there a better way? Join this breakout for creative ideas for gathering real-time and collaborative feedback from your program's most important people.
Building Broad Support & Buy-In During the Summer:
In this breakout session, we’ll talk about best practices and creative ways to leverage the great experiences you’re offering in your summer program to deepen support from a range of key stakeholders in your community. Participating teams will share lessons learned and we’ll collaboratively brainstorm new possibilities. What Would You Do? Summer Program Scenarios: No matter how well we plan, there are always situations that arise — often unexpected and beyond our control — that can leave us scrambling to figure out solutions in real time. Based on scenarios actually experienced by summer program leaders in the past, we will present various scenarios in this breakout and discuss ways to plan in advance for pivots and adjustments, so you are prepared as possible for the small and large pivots that may need to be made this summer. This breakout is ideal for those implementing summer programs for the first time — or for those who have had transitions in key staff positions or may just want a refresher.
Knowledge (Management) is Power! Imagine it’s the day before your program begins and you are scooped up by an extraterrestrial being, leaving your program to be run by…who? Who holds the information about your program? What do others need to know in order to ensure every day runs smoothly? Or what happens after the summer, if the program is handed off to a new coordinator? How will they be ready to build on the success of what exists and not start from scratch? Staff changes (hopefully not alien abductions) are common, and ensuring your program information is managed and shared is critical for program success. In this session we’ll identify what should be documented, and why, so that all your hard work this year pays off for years to come.
