Strategic Plan Guidance

ACADEMICS AND HIGH-QUALITY
INSTRUCTIONAL MATERIALS

Summer programs are short and provide little time for teachers to plan their lessons. Adopting a set of common, high-quality instructional materials reduces teacher burden, increases the content covered and supports better use of instructional time, and prevents inconsistency (and inequity) in student experiences.

Select HQIM for Reading and Math

Best Practice: Select HQIM for reading and math by the end of January.

ADSY PEP Requirement: There is a district/school-adopted set of instructional materials to be implemented across the LEA’s summer program for reading and math that meet TEA’s standard for High-Quality Instructional Materials in the Decision 8 Assurances.  TEA defines High-Quality Instructional Materials as:

Adapt HQIM to your Learners and Context

Best Practice: Engage staff with experience in curriculum and instruction to assess alignment, make adaptations, and identify strategies to support differentiation for students of different skill levels.
