Significance? Well I would say that these questions of mine are important because cosmic horror is the central idea of Lovecraft and his works, and thus everything inspired by his works. So understanding this concept is very much needed to research Lovecraft's works. This concept is the reason why there are thesis' and scholars about him.
Perspective? This doesn't affect a lot of people, only a small niche of people who like a specific genre of horror. One that I happen to like, and I think others that are averted to normal horror like jump scares and gore might find more appealing. I like the way it makes you think, and I think others who like to think would find this research to be valuable.
Evidence? I know this information is valuable because it's the source of the concept itself, lovecraft's works. But for the other sources, like the thesis on dread, I would argue that that's valuable because even if I don't agree with the interpretation, I still think any and all interpretations are valid and can give more insight into the topic.
Connections? I could connect this to different parts of philosophy, another area of interest of mine. They both deal with existentialism and thinking about things beyond your small life. Religion could be another thing, but I don't know a terrible lot of what I could do and my knowledge on the subject is limited. Science, specifically astro sciences, would be a fun things to connect to, especially because this is where this lovecraft idea came from, my love of the stars and the cosmos.
Supposition? How might it be different if Lovecraft's works were not used as a primary source. Weird considering that's what I'm studying, but if I were to focus on this question I could find tons of information concerning cosmic horror and the works around it. For example most of the lovecraftian mythos, which is cool, but certainly not what cosmic horror is and what lovecraft focused on. By researching this question with different methods I could get different results as cosmic horror may have changed drastically from what Lovecraft originally wrote.
