Rí

This is his current design. Third, first was Sutrimuerte (so you know its... interesting.) Second was in another sketchbook and this is 3. I still might change it, but it's not set in stone. His antlers look kinda funky so if my manuscript actually gets picked up then I'll prolly redraw this. (Actually, funny story. Each of these current character designs are drawn with charcoal. It's how I get the ancient and ashy texture, but it also is harder to add details. Anyway, before I moved, I knew that they would replace the carpet everywhere and repaint the walls, so I let myself be comfortable and drew on the floor. (I usually use charcoal on my desk because how messy it gets. Anyway, when I did TWO drawings, the cream colored carpet was actually black. Not just a bit darker, not a gray, solid BLACK.)

All of Rí's important information is in the very second episode of this podcast. We got magic system, description of his second design, and his behavior and how he oversees. Rí is the most powerful, but he is also the most quiet. Everyone knows where to find him, but he silently watches souls form through his candles and feel life go by. OH AND there's another episode, Ep-7, The tower of souls has a visitor. 

Anyway this was his very first design. At least I kept the crow feathers and the height. I mean he had wings but now he just flame-teleports anywhere he wants. 

He reminds me a lot of one of those 60's movies sad crime gritty mystery guy with wings and the legs of Stolas from Helluva. Why does he have a random ass trenchcoat and no pants?  I didn't even know what to draw for his face so it looks like he's been decapitated. I'm still amazed at the jump I made from this one to the second one, you can't even tell it's the same person. Not really the same person since his personality and magic system was COMPLETELY redone. But I'm grateful that I had a base to go off of. It was a very bad, held together with used bubblegum and ductape you found in your grandma's thousand year old car and maybe some hydrogen bonds between the atoms, but it was a base none the less. 

Also I feel like I spelt Terrified wrong even though auto correct keeps telling me it's the right spelling. You know when you struggle with spelling a word so much that the right spelling doesn't even look right? Yeah. 

This is one of the cards in the notebook where I keep a lot of my storylines. It's the one with all the notecard stacks, and I actually tried to make a deck for all the characters of mine, but I lost some of them before I could finish everything.

He's still doing the iconic thousand yard stare though the bandages while holding a candle. I also like how his cloak looks here. But his fingers look kinda funky and I forgot to do the lineart for one of his arms. Something I strugged (and sometimes still do when drawing) is that when a limb is partially hidden, I draw it without checking with the rest of the body. So it looks kinda disconnected, because if I had to draw the limb fully, then I'd see how weird it looks, but since it's partially covered, it isn't as blatantly obvious, but if you look closely, it looks disconnected from his body. But he looks less like a dorito and looks more like a strawberry. Still a bit odd, but a win is a win.

One of my friends who was walking by as I was sorting the cards and said "Oh, cool, I like the nature guy," reffering to him.
