Irish Ancestors is an excellent 'go to' source for Irish research - well organized, maps parish records and much more.

The Public Record Office of Northern Ireland is the official site for Northern Ireland records

Irish Genealogy is a key site for researching all Irish Births, Deaths, Marriages.

RootsIreland offers a unique database of more than 23 million Irish records from 34 county genealogy centres on the island of Ireland. The main sources on the site are Irish Catholic and other church records of baptisms, marriages and deaths which are the most important source for tracing Irish ancestry.

THE LIST of CHURCH OF IRELAND PARISH REGISTERS is a list of parishes and where their records are held

Logainm.ie is great website for confirming a townland's correct spelling, the original Irish language version, and local pronunciation. (It's also handy for mapping to the nearest  town)

MAPS: Townlands.ie shows full boundary outline and also lists adjoining townlands (a must for townlands that sit close a civil parish boundary)

First Land Survey of Ireland 1658 has links to Down Survey maps, townland landowners, population census and more.

The Meithal Community Placename Collection: for placenames that may not be townlands after all
