This tippy stool is an adaptive seating device designed to encourage active sitting, balance, and controlled movement. Its shape allows the user to shift and adjust their weight while seated, which can help promote postural control and provide sensory input. A device like this could be used in classrooms, therapy settings, or at home for individuals who benefit from movement while sitting or who are working on balance and core stability.
The stool was primarily fabricated from tri-wall cardboard using several interlocking structural pieces. Each component was measured and cut to the appropriate shape before being assembled into the final stool. Curved sections were created using a jigsaw, while openings were carefully cut so the pieces could slide together snugly and support one another without excessive movement. The edges were then sanded and finished to create smoother surfaces and a cleaner final product.
